Back in 2014, I created a series called Naughty Guide To Los Angeles. But the series actually started long before that.

I had already written Naughty Girl’s Guide to Los Angeles, which went on to win two book awards for Best Travel Book. Around that same time, I also created my meetup group where we would actually go out and experience many of the places featured inside the book.

The more I explored Los Angeles nightlife, the more I realized people wanted more than just recommendations. They wanted to feel part of the experience. That’s what inspired me to create Naughty Guide To Los Angeles.

I decided to film a 10-episode series that would take people inside some of LA’s naughtiest, sexiest, and most unforgettable places — from karaoke nights to sex parties, and experiences most people never knew existed.

The series became an extension of my meetup group, my books, and my website at the time. It was created for people living in Los Angeles, but also for those planning a trip to LA who wanted to experience a completely different side of the city.

One of those episodes was filmed at Sardo's Porn Star Karaoke — a legendary Hollywood spot that many people from that era probably remember well. It perfectly captured the energy of old nightlife Los Angeles. Fun, wild, sexy, social, and completely unapologetic.

I was lucky enough to host there twice in 2009 and 2014, signing copies of my Los Angeles guidebook and copies of the Hustler issue I was featured in. Looking back now, it feels surreal because at the time, I was simply documenting the world around me. I didn’t realize I was also documenting a completely different era of Los Angeles nightlife.

And honestly, that’s part of why resharing these videos feels so special to me now.

So many of these places no longer exist. The nightlife scene feels different now.

Back then, nightlife felt more mysterious. There was excitement in discovering hidden places, meeting interesting people, and not knowing exactly where the night would lead.

Watching these old episodes again reminded me how long I’ve actually been building worlds around storytelling, nightlife, photography, travel, and immersive experiences. Long before people talked about “world building” or experiential branding, I was naturally creating experiences that brought people into my world through books, events, videos, nightlife, and adventures.

That’s why these episodes mean so much to me now. They aren’t just old videos. They’re pieces of Los Angeles history, pieces of my own story, and reminders of the creative world I’ve been building all along.
